Life certainly is filled with ups and downs. Various trials surround us. There is pain, loss and betrayal. If you want to focus on the negative, it is there. Frankly, it’s not hard to become overwhelmed by everything going on around you. When you are in the center of a storm, the storm can be all you see. That is exactly what Satan and the world wants you to fixate on. Our enemy is a devourer.
It seems to me like the world keeps screaming at us to give in to our feelings; to embrace our circumstances. This is a dangerous endeavor. As women, we are creatures of emotion. However, we cannot give ourselves over to whatever valley we are walking through. We cannot allow ourselves to remain in the trial. We will be swallowed up and destroyed.
1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober! Be on the alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.” Satan is stalking those of us who are not looking for his attack. He is ready to pounce on those of us wrapped in chains of unforgiveness, who are allowing roots of bitterness to spring up inside us (Hebrews 12:15), who are consumed with anger and are overtaken by sorrow. When we allow ourselves to wallow in the trials we face, we are no longer looking for the enemy. Our focus has been moved, and we do not see the lion waiting inches away in the brush.
We have to confront our struggles head on. We must be vigilant. If we are so distracted by this life that we forget to be in the Word and no longer take time to pray, Satan has already gotten his claws in us. It is God’s Word and His Holy Spirit speaking truth into our lives that will allows us to come through the trial. We cannot move forward without hearing His voice and following the Shepherd.
Today, whatever you are facing, no matter how great the tidal wave seems, choose to not remain. Inch by inch, fight your way through. Speak Scripture out loud over yourself, write it down and place it in your purse to read over and over again throughout the day, take the time (however much you can) to be alone with God and listen to Him. You can share your heart with Him, of course, but please allow Him to speak. Be still and be silent. He will move. When we seek, we find. When we knock, He opens the door. When we ask, He gives it to us according to His will. (Matthew 7:7) God is our great deliverer! He is the conqueror! We have victory in Jesus name! Amen! Rest in the assurance that He will bring you through, and choose not to remain. Be blessed!
